Chris & Janice’s Gardiner Museum wedding in Toronto, ON was truly elegant. The Gardiner Museum was the perfect indoor venue for a winter wedding in Toronto.
If you’re one of the thousands of couples beginning to opt for a winter wedding, a Gardiner Museum wedding might be perfect for you! In the colder winter months couples getting married in the city might be looking for a wedding venue that not only offers beautiful interiors, but a creative space for an indoor wedding ceremony in Toronto. In that case, the Gardiner Museum is a perfect fit!
Janice & Chris (the stars of today’s lovely featured Gardiner Museum wedding) chose the perfect Toronto wedding venue – The Gardiner Museum! If you’re looking for a unique & modern Toronto wedding venue, this is one of the best in the city.
It was my first time shooting here and it was a real pleasure! The Bride & Groom were so much fun. Of course, I already knew that from shooting their Kensington Market engagement photos last summer. Even more wonderful is the fact that Janice & Chris are good friends of many of our past couples. It was like one big reunion seeing everyone at the wedding reception!
Janice & Chris began their wedding with a first look inside the Gardiner Museum. It was just the sweetest way to begin their portraits together on their wedding day. We decided to opt for pre-ceremony photos. Photographing first looks are the best for so many reasons! One of which is available daylight. As this was a winter wedding in Toronto, sunset was coming FAST and we wanted to make use of the little daylight we had.
The wedding itself took place upstairs at the Gardiner Museum. The dramatic floor to ceiling windows showed off a beautiful sunset just beyond the Toronto skyline. Vows were heartfelt but fun, with a unity candle being lit by the parents and the couple. Along with the help of their wedding officiant – Jeremy Citron (our favourite wedding officiant in the city) Chris & Janice signed their marriage certificate by the light of their unity candle.
Once pronounced husband & wife, Chris & Janice shared their first kiss as a married couple. In a unique style special to Chris & Janice, they (along with their parents in tow!) all danced back down the aisle. It was AWESOME and the perfect way to start the party!
Next up was one of my favourite moments of the day. The Chinese tea ceremony honoured both Janice’s family’s heritage and her grandmother in particular. Chinese tea ceremonies are a favourite tradition of mine to photograph. There is always so much history and love to share throughout the generations.
Cocktail hour took place downstairs in the front lobby of the Gardiner Museum. The ceremony area upstairs was transformed to the reception location. The layout of tables with the Bride & Groom in the centre really added to the personal & warm atmosphere of Janice & Chris’ Gardiner Museum wedding.
We ended the night in the perfect fashion – with sparklers in front of the giant Christmas tree out front of the Gardiner Museum. A picture-perfect end to a picture-perfect Gardiner Museum wedding day.
A huge congratulations Janice & Chris! You two are the sweetest and we wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
