You may remember Johnny & Andrea from their gorgeous Royal Canadian Yacht Club engagement session we shot last summer (check it out here!)
These two put together a stunning wedding day, which began at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto for the wedding party preparations. The ladies in the wedding party carried special hand bags personally made for each of them by the bride as a very personal and lovely gift.
Andrea wore a very special veil with her gown, that her mother and her grandmother had worn before her on their wedding days. It was so beautiful in the photos and looked amazing on her. Simply timeless!
The big reveal came and Andrea & Johnny got their first look at one another – so romantic! I love doing first looks for brides & grooms as it gives us lots of time for photos before the rush of the day really begins.
Along with the wedding party we walked along Front Street shooting in various spots along the way. I love the image with all the pigeons flying in the alleyway around Andrea & Johnny!
The beautiful wedding ceremony took place at the gorgeous Christ the Good Shepherd Ukrainian Catholic Church in Toronto, with a reception following at The Country Club, also in Toronto. One important cultural tradition we saw take place at the reception was the Ukrainian tradition of the parents meeting Andrea & Johnny when they entered the reception and presenting them with a tray of symbolic gifts: bread, salt, honey and wine. Bread represents nature’s bounty, salt is a necessity of life, honey-the sweetness of life and wine — prosperity. The newly-formed families unite in a toast.
A beautiful reception followed (with many emotional speeches – these two are clearly very loved), and we even were lucky enough to see an absolutely stunning sunset in the sky – perfect for a few final bride & groom portraits on the balcony.
Congratulations Andrea & Johnny – we wish you all the very best in your marriage and life together!
