If this blog post about our spring engagement photos in Unionville doesn’t make your mouth water, then you don’t have a sweet tooth! This macaron and Hermès inspired engagement shoot for Cathy & Peter took place this past spring and had so many personal touches. We decided to do spring Unionville engagement photos for Cathy & Peter as the trees were just beginning to bloom with cherry blossoms, and the weather was perfect for Cathy to wear her favourite Hermès scarf as a gorgeous accessory, courtesy of the groom-t0-be Peter! (By the way, autumn engagement photos in Unionville are equally gorgeous too!)
Here’s what Cathy (our lovely bride-to-be) had to say about how Peter popped the question:
Peter finally made it over to me and we left the shops and went to dinner – nothing out of the ordinary happened, and we went home. When we got home I did my usual – washroom/make-up removal, and undress. I came out of our ensuite to find a big Hermès box on our bed. My stomach dropped with excitement as I had been coveting a particular scarf for some time and thought that maybe thats what Peter had surprised me with! So I got under the covers and opened the box… to find that it was empty – just a picture of that scarf (this was all to throw me off).
Peter then left the bedroom and came back in with an even larger Hermès box – now i was REALLY confused. But I opened this box to find a beautiful macaron-lined cake from our favourite patisserie, Nadège Patisserie. On the cake was written “you’re the only one for me” – at that point I figured out what was happening and started to cry. Peter then pulled out a small Hermès box that held my engagement ring, he got on his knee and proposed. I, of course, said yes!
I asked him later what the earlier empty box was all about, and he grinned like a child, left the room briefly and came back with the big, beautiful silk scarf I had been obsessed with. (I should note that our courtship themes were definitely all things French – wine, macarons, and Hermès scarves! so it was fitting that the proposal included all of these things)
A long description but it was oh so beautiful, very planned and well thought out – very fitting for Peter, he’s the most thoughtful person I’ve ever met.
