Nicole and Corey’s wedding was one of our first that we shot this year, and what a lovely couple to start our 2013 wedding season off right! These two were made for each other, and already have a beautiful little girl together. We made sure to feature their daughter in lots of their wedding day images, along with Corey’s older daughter as well, since documenting your family is so important on days like these in our lives.
The getting ready photos at Nicole’s Mom’s house were a bit more emotional than usual. Nicole’s father passed away quite suddenly the year before, and with such a huge loss to the family still fresh in their hearts, the getting ready pictures were more than a little emotional for Nicole, her mother and sister. I wanted to ensure Dad was included, so we created a portrait of Mom doing up Nicole’s wedding gown in the background, with a portrait of Dad smiling in the foreground. I wanted to be sure he was represented physically because I know he was there watching over them in spirit.
The getting ready continued at the hotel for the gentlemen, where we grabbed a few suave portraits of Corey before a “first look” for the Bride & Groom, and wedding party portraits inside the Novotel Hotel lobby. The lobby has some pretty cool lighting fixtures and it gave us a nice creative space to work in to create some fun portraits of the wedding party before the ceremony. One of my favourite wedding party images shows Nicole & Corey’s cutie daughter as she’s talking on a banana like a telephone (Justin had a great time joking around with her, and she gave us and the wedding party lots of laughs!)
The wedding ceremony and reception took place at The Venetian Banquet Hall in Vaughan. The ceremony was beautiful, Nicole and Corey were all smiles and laughs throughout, and they walked back down the aisle together as husband and wife, with their guests blowing bubbles all around them!
As usual, pictures tell a better story than I can, so please enjoy the fun photos of the reception below, including a flash mob!
One note – a special moment took place during the reception when instead of the traditional father daughter dance, Nicole invited every man in attendance up to have a fun, celebratory fast dance with her on the dance floor, in memory of her father. How sweet and fun, and the celebratory spirit of the dance really reflected the positive attitude of the family, despite missing their dad so much (as you can imagine, many tears were shed during the speeches in particular!)
Congratulations Nicole and Corey and to your families – you are a beautiful couple and were made for one another. Thank you for trusting us to capture such a special day for you!
