A beautiful fall day and a couple in love. Meet Karen & Curtis. This beautiful couple is getting married this year, but Justin and I had the pleasure of taking a ferry ride over to Toronto Island with Karen and Curtis this past Fall to shoot some engagement portraits. We actually started shooting on the ferry itself! These guys were so much fun and indulged us by posing around other people while still on the ferry.
Fall is a lovely time for engagement photos, because not only can you accessorize your outfits (which is always fun – and Karen wore the most gorgeous jacket), you can throw leaves around, and take advantage of beautiful late-day sun that somehow just feels warmer when reflecting off the red, orange & yellow autumn leaves.
This was the first time we had the opportunity to shoot engagement photography on Toronto Island (well, Ward Island to be specific), and it was great but it was a LOT of walking! If you plan on shooting here, good walking shoes are a must. We were lucky to see an incredible sunset sky, which you can see below in some photos from the pier.
True to our specialty, one main goal I had in mind for this session was to capture some twilight portraits of Karen & Curtis in front of the gorgeous Toronto skyline, featuring the CN Tower and off the left, the Rogers Centre (or the Sky Dome to anyone over the age of 10 😉 I’m very happy with the results – I think it shows intimacy between Karen & Curtis, but creates a beautiful landscape at the same time.
To our happy couple – thanks for being a blast to work with, and Justin and I are very excited to shoot your wedding this year!
